Claimed by many to be one of the most spectacular golf courses in Europe .The original course was designed by Sir Henry Cotton. Recently a new course has been built at Vale do Lobo and the complex now boasts two 18 hole courses.
The shimmering blue sea makes a perfect backdrop to the Ocean course and has attracted some of the worlds finest photographers as well as golfers. The new course, under the name of the Royal has earnt itself the accolade of being a world class test of golfing skills.
If Pinecliffs attracts the photographers to its course in general the Ocean has the merit of having the single most photographed hole in the Algarve.
The course is set on lush grass above the crumbling red cliffs. The sky and the sea make a perfect backdrop to the memorable stroke that cost you a round in the club house. Again a design by Henry Cotton, constructed for 1968 the course offers 5768m. at par 71.
Further inland and enjoying the shade and tranquility of mature pine trees and magnificant sea views. The course dates from 1977 by Henry Cotton. 6175m. at par 72.
