The village of Carveiro stands in a steep valley leading down to the sandy cove of Praia de Carvoeiro. Old houses and narrow streets of Carvoeiro climb up the valley sides from what has now become a popular resort village.
The beach of Praia de Carvoeiro is a bay of pure golden sand between rocky cliffs. A safe and sheltered place for children and adults to bathe and enjoy their Algarve holiday.
The village is set beside a golden sanded cove in a narrow valley. The natural setting of this former fishing village allowed little space for development so Carveiros resort complexes, including the well known Carvoeiro Club have grown on the high ground around the village.
Here, self contained village complexes provide for a perfect Algarve holiday. Pools, shops, restaurants and bars keep everything in easy walking distance of villas and low rise apartments.
The downside of this is that many of the complexes are a steep walk from the village centre and visiting the beach or village bars and shops can be difficult with small families and the elderly.
Parking in the village can be near to impossible so many locals bypass the local shops and shop at the Intermarche supermarket 1 mile out of the village on the road to Lagoa. This French owned supermarket offers fresh and international products at non tourist prices.
